Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Engineer III in Huntsville, AL to design, develop and evaluate electronic systems for small unmanned aircraft and related applications. You will select components, define design approaches, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, innovative solutions.

The role requires hands-on PCB design in Altium, RF/FPGA focus, and power electronics experience, with travel for flight tests and on-site support.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; 5–8 years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experience with RF, embedded control, or FPGA design.
• Experience with power electronics and battery technologies.
• Familiarity with LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, and USB protocols.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, integrated circuitry, and hardware systems for UAV applications.
• Select components based on specifications, performance requirements, and reliability.
• Determine design approaches, parameters, and methodologies for electronic systems and subsystems.
• Conduct system design for small UAVs with cross-functional teams.
• Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
• Support flight tests and travel as needed.
