Job summary

AgZen in the Boston area is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own electrical systems powering RealCoverage. You will drive electrical design from R&D through field deployment, including schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware bring-up for rugged agricultural hardware.

You'll work with mechanical, firmware, and field teams to ensure reliable performance in real-world environments. In-person role based in Somerville, MA with strong ownership requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 6+ years in electrical design with a track record of delivering/high-volume products or working in research/prototyping environments.
• Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics, design PCB layouts, and perform hardware bring-up and debug.
• Experience with custom PCB design from schematic entry to fabrication, assembly, testing, and production.
• Design experience with motors, motor controllers, power supplies, inverters/converters, and edge power delivery, including battery-powered systems.
• Proven ability to own hardware problems end-to-end, including field diagnostics and fixes.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and firmware constraints affecting electrical design decisions.
• Experience working on high-reliability products where field failures matter.
• Comfort working in small teams with broad ownership and fast pace.
• Experience working with vendors/contractors and managing relationships.

Responsibilities

• Engage in electrical system development through all stages from R&D to field use, defining requirements and owning schematic design at the subsystem level.
• Productize concepts and designs including manufacturability, vendor qualification, cost management, and translating docs to contract manufacturers.
• Engineer solutions to integrate with diverse sprayers and agricultural machinery for retrofitting in the field.
• Build firmware validation tooling and processes to support mass production.
• Collaborate across hardware, software and field ops to incorporate feedback and respond to priorities.
• Engineer fault-tolerant systems with graceful failure recovery.
• Develop documentation for architecture, schematics and layouts.
• Work with mechanical/product engineers to build enclosures and actuation systems.
• Support experiments and testing on agricultural sprayers to validate reliability in real environments.
• Enhance engineering documentation including design reviews, testing, code, interfaces and versioning.
