Job summary

Plan B Climatech is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join their data center team. Based in Austin TX or remotely (US-based), you will lead electrical design from basis through construction, guiding power system architecture and coordination with BIM/VDC workflows.

You will mentor junior engineers, engage with clients and contractors, and help define repeatable design standards on hyperscale data center projects. A PE license and 8+ years in mission critical data centers are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience with a strong mission critical / data center focus.
• Hyperscale data center experience strongly preferred.
• Solid knowledge of NEC / NFPA 70 and electrical safety principles.
• PE licence (or actively working toward one).
• Familiarity with TIA-942 and data center resiliency/tier concepts.
• Experience with power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower or similar).
• Fast-track, design-assist, and complex energisation/phasing experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from basis of design through construction documents and construction administration.
• Develop power system architecture - single-line diagrams, load summaries, MV/LV distribution, equipment schedules.
• Design and coordinate utility services, transformers, switchgear, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs, grounding, and lighting systems.
• Direct short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
• Drive interdisciplinary coordination across mechanical, controls, FP, structural, and BIM/VDC teams.
• Lead client and contractor engagement - design reviews, RFIs, submittals, and field issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to repeatable design standards.
