Job summary

ONWARD SEARCH in the United States is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (R&D) to lead electrical design initiatives for new product development across a remote team. This full-time role focuses on delivering robust power and control solutions from concept through manufacturing.

The ideal candidate has a BSEE or equivalent, 5+ years of experience with low to medium voltage distribution, and familiarity with NRTL testing and UL/IEEE standards.

Qualifications

• BSEE or equivalent experience; master's degree preferred.
• At least 5 years in designing low and/or medium voltage power distribution equipment or related products.
• Experience with NRTL evaluation, testing, and certification processes.
• Familiarity with electrical standards such as UL 891, 1558, 508A, IEEE/ANSI C37.20.2, C37.04, C37.06, C37.09, CSA C22.2, NFPA 70E.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the electrical design and development of power and control systems for new products, from initial concept to manufacturing.
• Create detailed electrical specifications, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with testing labs to define certification scope, develop test plans, and evaluate outcomes for product qualification.
• Support testing activities, analyze results, and iterate designs to improve performance and compliance.
• Serve as the primary technical contact during manufacturing and testing phases, providing troubleshooting and technical guidance.
