Job summary

CannonDesign is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team, contributing to design and delivery of electrical systems for education, healthcare, and corporate projects. You will lead design efforts, prepare construction documents, and coordinate with architects and engineers.

A minimum of 6 years’ experience and strong communication skills are required; familiarity with Revit and related tools is expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree; ABET accreditation preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of related experience.
EIT/FE preferred.
LEED accreditation preferred.
Independent thinker with analytical mindset.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects.
Experience with engineering design software such as Revit, AGI32, Visual, SKM Power Tools.

Responsibilities

Participate in project teamwork planning sessions and may take a lead role.
May assume project engineering responsibilities and adhere to financial and work goals.
Initiate project designs and help to develop design goals and systems; perform electrical engineering design for building construction.
Design lighting, power distribution, signaling, communications and/or telecommunication systems for healthcare, education/higher education and commercial clients per applicable codes.
Prepare construction documents including drawings and specifications; guide less experienced team members in execution of drawings; specify electrical equipment.
Complete quality control checks of engineering documents and layout systems.
Participate in value engineering sessions with Architectural/Engineering team.
Recommend improvements with reference standards and processes to improve quality, coordination, and to streamline production efforts.
Review and markup of shop drawings and submittals; respond to RFIs and review of change orders.
Conduct job site visits to verify existing conditions and observe construction progress; attend construction meetings.
Familiarity with operational technology systems, cyber-informed design principles, NIST SP 800-82, or critical infrastructure security considerations preferred.
May perform other related tasks as needed.
