Job summary

Actalent is seeking a senior electrical engineer to lead projects at Montgomery, NJ, guiding teams through feasibility, design, and construction phases while coordinating with clients and PMs. You will ensure code compliance and deliverables meet standards.

Requirements include a BS EE, 10+ years in building-design engineering, AutoCAD/Revit proficiency, and strong calculation skills. PE preferred. Hybrid work arrangement in New Jersey with a strong compensation range.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Engineering/design experience in building design (power distribution, standby power, life safety, etc.).
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Expertise in AutoCAD/Revit for engineering design.
• Thorough knowledge of Electrical system design and applicable codes.
• Experience with electrical engineering calculations (SKM, EasyPower, AmpCALC, etc.).
• Experience with medium voltage systems and electrical hazardous classified areas.
• 4 years of experience overseeing engineers and designers on project teams.
• PE preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead projects as Project Lead across all phases including Feasibility Reports, Building Assessments, Basis of Design, and Detailed Design.
• Assess project requirements, break work into tasks, and define scope, budget, and staffing with PM.
• Write the scope of work for design based on client reviews.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems.
• Review and evaluate the operation of existing systems.
• Coordinate with code officials and other design professionals on code interpretations.
• Assign and review work of the project design team.
• Check progress of work and produce markups for drawings.
• Communicate with clients and alert PM to changes of scope or additional services.
• Review contractor applications for payment and understand the construction process.
• Coordinate all project documentation with clients and design professionals.
• Make calculations for design such as service size, short circuit, arc flash, power system load, and conduit sizing.
• Prepare or review construction budgets based on scope and experience.
• Promote and develop company design/production standards.
• Assist in education and development of design staff as a resource for design questions.
