Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking a Principal Electric Engineer to act as SME for LVD design and to lead engineering, design, and governance across large complex projects for distribution, generation, and storage systems. You will own standard work documents, represent the company at industry groups, and drive process improvements across multiple organizations.

The role requires coordinating with engineers, technicians, and external stakeholders to ensure standards, schedules, and budgets are met

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program with 7+ years in advanced electrical engineering.
Engineering degree from non-ABET program plus PE license with 7+ years in senior electrical engineering capacity.

Responsibilities

Direct or coordinate installation, maintenance, and testing activities to meet specs and customer requirements.
Prepare reports and provide technical support across departments.
Estimate material, labor, and costs for budget planning and procurement.
Design, control, and implement electrical systems and serve as primary client contact for project matters.
Oversee development and implementation of electrical systems.
Operate CAD/engineering software to execute engineering tasks.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents; monitor progress and budget.
Collaborate with customers and teams to resolve issues and report to upper management.
