Job summary

Mission Critical Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for custom power distribution and control products, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and estimating teams to meet schedule and budget.

You will ensure UL compliance, optimize designs for cost and cycle time, and drive design processes across the engineering department while supporting field service and customer deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience in switchgear for marine, heavy industrial, and oil & gas.
• 5+ years in electro-mechanical power system design including low/medium voltage distribution and arc flash protection.
• Proven track record leading complex projects with cross-functional teams.
• Strong UL standards knowledge (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845, UL-DLAH).
• Experience designing with PLCs and protective relays, and communication protocols.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and familiarity with 3D tools.
• ERP/MRP experience with SAP, Oracle, or IFS.
• Ability to interpret customer specs and one-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical designs for low- and medium-voltage power distribution and motor control centers.
• Provide guidance on material selection, system architecture, and design concepts.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Building Design, Manufacturing, and Estimating teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish and improve electrical design processes to increase efficiency and support innovation.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers across the team.
• Support manufacturing and field service with troubleshooting and testing.
