Job summary

Mission Critical Group in the United States seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of custom power distribution and control products. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and estimating teams to deliver innovative solutions on time and within budget.

You will ensure UL standards compliance, optimize designs for cost and cycle time, and support field service with troubleshooting and testing.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience, with significant switchgear experience in marine, heavy industrial, and oil & gas.
  • 5+ years of electro-mechanical power system design, including LV/MV distribution, MCCs, controls integration, arc flash protection.
  • Proven track record leading complex projects from concept to production and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong knowledge of UL standards and regional utility codes.
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Schneider) and protection relays, and communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet).
  • Proficiency with electrical design software (AutoCAD Electrical, E-Plan, Promis-e) and familiarity with 3D design tools.
  • ERP/MRP experience (SAP, Oracle, or IFS).
  • Ability to interpret customer specs and one-line diagrams to derive design criteria.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical designs for LV/MV power distribution systems and motor control centers.
  • Provide guidance on materials, system architecture, and design concepts for product integrity.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Building Design, Manufacturing, and Estimating teams for manufacturability and cost control.
  • Establish and improve electrical design processes to boost efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance with UL standards and regional codes.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Support manufacturing and field service with troubleshooting and testing.

Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer serves as a technical leader within the engineering team, responsible for designing and implementing advanced electrical systems for custom power distribution and control products. This role focuses on achieving high-quality designs,optimizingcycle times, and reducing costs while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines. The Senior Electrical Engineer acts as a subject matter expert,mentors'junior engineers and designers, and collaborates cross-functionally with mechanical, manufacturing, and estimating teams to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions on time and within budget.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop electrical designs for low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, motor control centers, and custom control equipment, including arc flash protection systems.
  • Provide technicalexpertiseand guidance on material selection, system architecture, and design concepts to ensure product integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with Mechanical Engineering, Building Design, Manufacturing, and Estimating teams to ensure designs areaccurate, manufacturable, and cost-effective.
  • Establish,maintain, and continuously improve electrical design processes to increase efficiency, reduce operational costs, and support innovation.
  • Serve as the authority on UL standards, customer specifications, and regional code compliance to ensure safety and regulatory adherence.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth andknowledge sharingacross the team.
  • Support manufacturing and field service teams with technical troubleshooting, testing, and customer witness activities.
  • Identifyand implement advanced tools, technologies, and design methodologies to keep the engineering department at the forefront of industry.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive electrical engineering design experience, withsignificant experiencein switchgear for marine, heavy industrial, and oil and gas industries.
  • 5+ years of experience with electro-mechanical power system design, including low and medium voltage power distribution, motor control centers,controlsintegration, and arc flash protection.
  • Proventrack recordof leading complex engineering projects from concept through production and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of UL standards (UL-1558, UL-891, UL-67, UL-508, UL-845, UL-DLAH) and regional utility codes.
  • Expertisein designing with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Schneider, and similar), protective relays (Basler, Multiline,Sepam, Woodward, and similar), and communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet, Fiber Optic).
  • Proficiencywith AutoCAD Electrical, E-Plan, Promis-e, or similar electrical design software, plus familiarity with 3D design tools.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or IFS.
  • Ability to read and understand customer job specifications and technical one-line diagrams to create design criteria for project development.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power system design, and product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent problem-solving andcritical thinkingabilities.
  • Ability to work on fast-paced, short-turnaround projects.
  • Strong communicationskills with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to customers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Self-driven with a high regard for process, quality, and integrity.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineeringrequired. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
