Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking a Senior Electrical Project Manager to expand our Renewable Energy practice in Boca Raton, FL. You will lead planning, analysis and execution of complex power system studies, acting as the technical lead for modeling and reporting.

Requirements include 10+ years managing electrical projects and a P.E. license, with strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards. You will mentor staff and collaboratively grow our power systems capabilities.

Overview

Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated Senior Electrical Project Manager to expand our Renewable Energy practice in Boca Raton, FL.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, analysis, and execution of complex power system studies for utility, renewable generation, energy storage, industrial, and large commercial projects, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, transient stability, and interconnection studies.
  • Serve as the technical lead for power system modeling, analysis, and reporting using industry-standard software such as ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, CYME, PSCAD, PSS E, or PowerWorld.
  • Develop and review technical deliverables including study reports, protective relay settings, one-line diagrams, system impact assessments, grounding analyses, and interconnection documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices, supporting transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, and large-load infrastructure projects.
  • Support clients through utility interconnection processes, regulatory compliance requirements, system upgrades, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Prepare technical proposals, project scopes, engineering estimates, and study methodologies while helping expand Kimley-Horn's power systems and utility engineering services across local and national markets.
  • Our Project Managers/Practice Builders manage their projects profitably, transition work to qualified staff, grow and mentor staff, and act as a positive leader and mentor

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of relevant experience managing Electrical projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, National Electrical Safety Code, IEEE and ANSI Standards
  • Ability to effectively communicate positively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and mentor staff, and direct resources effectively in a positive manner
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably
