Job summary

CDM Smith in the United States is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the design and delivery of complex substation and industrial power systems. This hybrid role can be based in one of CDM Smith’s offices, with collaboration across the firm.

You will create designs, conduct studies and calculations, develop technical papers, mentor junior staff, and support project teams on power, lighting, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• 3 years of related experience; travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• The frequency of travel is contingent on duties and workload.

Responsibilities

• Create basic to moderately complex designs of electric master system plans, power systems, protection and generation models, facility power systems, sustainability/renewable energy systems, and other similar electrical systems with collaborative support.
• Conduct studies and electrical calculations for power systems, lighting simulations, lighting layouts, communications, fire alarm systems, security systems, and similar technical areas.
• Develop white papers and technical documentation to support the firm's technical knowledge management (TKM) and conduct site reviews and studies to ensure designs align with location specifications. Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• Updates design requirements as necessary.
• Attend conferences and symposia to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Mentor junior team members through technical guidance, training and collaborative work reviews.
