Job summary

Oglethorpe Power Corporation seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to serve as the enterprise technical lead for electrical infrastructure across OPC's generation fleet. This full-time role owns reliability and lifecycle stewardship from installation through upgrades on both new and existing plants.

You will provide hands-on support during outages, direct design reviews and equipment procurement, and drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs using CMMS/Maximo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology (BSEE strongly preferred)
• 10+ years of progressive experience in power generation, utilities, oil & gas, or heavy industrial environments
• Strong working knowledge of low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical systems, protective devices, and electrical testing
• Experience leading equipment procurement, retrofit installations, capital projects, and outage execution

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical authority for electrical systems across OPC's power generation fleet
• Provide hands-on engineering support for operation, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of critical electrical assets
• Lead and approve engineering design reviews, technical specifications, and drawings for procurement, upgrades, and replacements
• Act as the primary electrical engineering resource during planned outages and forced events
• Oversee and support preventive, predictive, and corrective electrical testing (NERC/SERC PRC and MOD)
• Develop, standardize, and improve electrical preventive and predictive maintenance programs (CMMS/Maximo)
• Support electrical retrofit and modification projects through technical review of drawings and vendor agreements
• Lead engineering support for NERC Reliability Standards compliance (PRC, MOD)
