Job summary

Oglethorpe Power Corp. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Talbot Energy Facility in Columbus, Georgia. This plant-facing role focuses on reliability, outage execution, and partnering with plant leadership and contractors to ensure safe, reliable generation.

The role involves hands-on field work, training support, and relocation assistance for the right candidate, with travel up to 25% and relocation options for those nearby Columbus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on approach to solving mechanical equipment reliability challenges in a plant environment.
• Ability to lead engineering presence and coordinate with plant teams, contractors and vendors.
• Strong judgment, organization and communication skills for multiple priorities during maintenance and outages.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical reliability, condition assessment, troubleshooting and preventive/predictive maintenance for combined-cycle assets.
• Plan and support mechanical minor outage scopes, including field execution and contractor coordination.
• Provide engineering support for major maintenance, capital projects, and drawing/specification reviews.
• Partner with plant leadership on maintenance planning, lifecycle strategies, budgets and reliability initiatives.
• Support integration of new assets into long-term maintenance and reliability programs.
• Provide outage-season support and assist other generation assets as needed.
