Job Overview

The Electrical Power Engineer should have experience in the utility-scale power and renewable energy industry, capable of supporting power generation design projects, including leading multiple design and engineering tasks simultaneously. The ideal candidate will have expertise in power generation and distribution, renewable energy, protection and motor control design, power system studies, and related areas. Interest or experience in renewables and battery energy storage systems (BESS) is highly desirable. Additionally, mentoring young engineers, client relationship development, and supporting marketing activities are valued. Power plant systems design and engineer of record experience are required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Protection and control design experience, including setting calculations and electronic files development
• Instrumentation and Controls experience, particularly with DCS and PLC systems
• Field experience, including startup and commissioning
• Experience in renewable energy projects (PV, BESS, microgrids)
• Previous experience with an engineering power consulting firm
• Willingness to grow into a team lead or section manager role
• Knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design, grounding, and related activities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard power sector design software (ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, etc.)
• Ability to conduct work sessions, project meetings, and participate in site reviews
• Developing project schematic designs and contract documents, reviewing project documents, and coordinating with disciplines
• Handling addenda, RFIs, change orders, JSAs, and incorporating changes into project documents
• Conducting QA/QC on work of others
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
• Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
• Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety and BMS
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software
• Active participation in our employee-owned culture
