Job summary

Continental Electrical Construction Company seeks a Sr Electrical Engineer, PE, to lead electrical design efforts for mission-critical and commercial facilities in the Chicago area. You will mentor engineers, guide project execution from concept through construction, and ensure NEC and local code compliance.

You’ll collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to deliver accurate, constructible designs and robust analyses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field with focus on building electrical systems.
• 7–10+ years of electrical design experience for commercial/institutional/mission critical facilities; data center experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required or achievable within 12 months.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SKM/ETAP, and Microsoft Office; strong NEC, Chicago Electrical Code, NFPA and related standards knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design, ensuring quality, accuracy, constructability, and code compliance across project phases.
• Develop and review designs including power distribution, generator/UPS, lighting, fire alarm and grounding systems.
• Perform analyses: short circuit, coordination, arc flash, load calculations, cable ampacity.
• Produce one-line diagrams, specifications, equipment schedules, floor plans, and BIM/Revit models.
• Mentor a team of engineers, delegate tasks, and monitor progress to meet schedules and budgets.
• Collaborate with clients, PMs, contractors, and internal teams; support design meetings and proposals.
