Job summary

Continental Electrical Construction Company in the Chicago area seeks an Electrical Engineer to design and implement electrical systems for a range of commercial projects. The role includes producing permit and construction drawings, performing calculations, and preparing close-out documents.

You will utilize AutoCAD, Revit, SKM PowerTools, and manufacturer design tools to support projects spanning data centers, hospitals, offices, and higher education facilities, collaborating with PMs and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; PE license preferred.
3+ years in commercial electrical construction and design.
Strong NEC and Chicago Electrical Code knowledge.
NAPCEP, electrical engineering, and/or AutoCAD certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

Design single-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
Develop electrical calculations for loads, sizing, voltage drop, and grounding.
Produce schematic designs to support design-build opportunities.
Conduct arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies.
Perform Neher-McGrath calculations for temperature rise and current-carrying capacity.
Ensure designs comply with codes and project requirements.
Prepare installation details, diagrams, schedules, and calculations for approvals.
Site surveys to assess existing conditions and electrical infrastructure.
Create shop drawings and update records from field markups.
