Job Description: Senior P&C Engineer

Join Mott MacDonald, a global leader in engineering, management, and development services, supporting projects across over 150 countries. We are seeking a Senior P&C Engineer to be based in Boston, MA, New York, NY, or Iselin, NJ. This role involves hands-on electrical utility engineering, focusing on protection & controls for switching stations and substations, with knowledge of Short circuit Studies, Relay Settings Calculations, and Database files being advantageous.

Your Duties:

1. Design P&C for electrical utility projects at distribution and transmission voltages (4kV - 500kV).
2. Develop and review P&C drawings: one-line diagrams, schematics, SCADA controls, layouts, and wiring diagrams.
3. Coordinate with various project stakeholders including designers, engineers, and field personnel.
4. Calculate load bank sizes, battery banks, and provide guidance and quality reviews.
5. Engage with vendors and review technical documentation.
6. Lead design teams and participate in client discussions.
7. Possess experience with microprocessor relays, high voltage equipment, GIS, SCADA, and controls of high voltage breakers.
8. Assist in project estimating and scheduling for P&C work.

Candidate Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 10+ years in electrical engineering, specifically protection, control, and SCADA.
• At least 5 years of experience with electrical utility switching stations/substations, including equipment such as transformers, circuit breakers, GIS, etc.
• Proficiency in protective relay schemes, fiber optics, SCADA, and power distribution controls.
• Knowledge of NERC and IEEE standards.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and excellent communication skills.
• PE registration is preferred.
