Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for Starship launch pad systems, including power distribution, motor control, and supporting infrastructure. The role involves designing control panels, schematics, and construction documentation to ensure reliable power delivery and safety compliance.

You will coordinate with utilities and internal teams, support field installation and commissioning, and perform electrical studies such as load calculations and arc flash

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 10+ year of experience in the design, build, or commissioning of electrical systems (internship experience qualifies).
  • Experience designing electrical systems in hazardous locations (Class I, Division 1 or 2 environments).
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL 508A.

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design for Starship launch pad systems, including power distribution, motor control, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Design industrial electrical control panels and power distribution systems per NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A.
  • Develop electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with utilities and internal teams to ensure reliable power delivery to critical launch pad equipment.
  • Provide real-time field support during construction, activation, and testing to resolve issues.
