Job summary

Merrick & Company is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Melbourne, FL. The role covers all phases of engineering production and BIM for complex projects, from programming through construction administration.

Responsibilities include designing electrical systems for government and private facilities, developing power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, telecom, and security systems, and producing calculations, reports, and specifications while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
• Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
• Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
• Extensive knowledge of NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEE.
• Experience with AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM Power Tools, ETAP or EasyPower is preferred.
• Self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self-disciplined and capable in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
• Ability to travel as needed and U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for facilities including Government and private clients.
• Provide conceptual / detailed design for facility power distribution (≤600V), site power distribution (≤15kV), emergency power, grounding and lighting.
• Prepare and edit calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Meet with clients to validate proposed scope of work.
• Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure package accuracy, schedule and budget.
• Write and edit specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers and manage the local team.
