Job summary

Merrick & Company, located in Greenwood Village, CO, seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our multi-discipline team. You will contribute to all phases of engineering production and BIM for large projects, from programming through construction administration, with emphasis on electrical design for government and private clients.

You will mentor junior engineers, coordinate with other disciplines, prepare scope validation and fee proposals, and ensure on-time delivery within budget

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited electrical/architectural engineering degree.
  • 8+ years of facility electrical design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • Proficient in REVIT/AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC/NESC/NFPA.
  • Experience with lighting and power design tools (AGi32, Elum Tools, SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).
  • Strong communication, self-starting, and mentoring abilities.
  • U.S. Citizenship for client projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for facilities including Government and private clients.
  • Provide design for power distribution (≤600V), site power (≤15kV), emergency power, grounding and lightning protection, lighting, telecom, fire alarm, security, and access control.
  • Provide supporting calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Meet with clients to validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure package accuracy, schedule and budget.
  • Write and edit specifications.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers and manage local team.

OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. Candidates should be located in the one of the following office locations: Greenwood Village, CO; San Antonio, TX; Melbourne, FL; Chamblee,GA; or Boise, ID. A hybrid schedule will be supported.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for all phases of engineering production and BIM for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects. Additionally, this engineer will:

  • Design electrical systems for facilities including Government, and private clients.
  • Provide conceptual / detailed design for facility power distribution (<=600V), site power distribution (<=15kV), emergency power generation, grounding and lightning protection, lighting design, telecommunications (voice/data), fire alarm / mass notification, security, access control, and special systems.
  • Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
  • Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to ensure accuracy of the package, meet schedule, and budget commitments and meet expectations for attendance and punctuality.
  • Write and edit specifications
  • Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as provide management of the local team.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or architectural engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • Eight (8) years of experience in facility electrical engineering design
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required
  • Proficient in using REVIT/AutoCAD.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical regulatory codes such as NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEE.
  • Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting software such as AGi32, Elum Tools, and power software such as SKM Power Tools, ETAP, or EasyPower.
  • Successful candidates must be self-starting, motivated, innovative, articulate, self-disciplined, and confident in a demanding, exciting and fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
