Job summary

Omni Staffing seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead hardware development for next-generation access control and security products in Inglewood, CA. You will own the full product lifecycle from schematic design to production release, collaborating with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure high-quality, reliable devices.

The role requires 10+ years in hardware development, strong PCB design skills, and expertise with Altium Designer, DC/DC, PoE, and EMC/ESD practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in hardware design and product development.
• Advanced experience with Altium Designer and multi-layer PCB design.
• Strong analog and digital circuit design skills.
• Experience with power conversion, battery charging, and motor control circuits.
• Knowledge of EMC/ESD principles, IPC standards, and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Experience with Ethernet, USB, RS-485, and similar communication protocols.
• Proven ability to take products from concept through production release.
• Strong vendor management, cross-functional collaboration, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience applying structured problem-solving and root-cause corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end hardware development from schematic capture to production release.
• Design and maintain hardware using Altium Designer and component libraries.
• Develop power systems including DC/DC converters, PoE+, battery charging, protection, and PM circuits.
• Design and integrate interfaces (Ethernet, USB, RS-485, LoRa, AV systems).
• Support SOM platforms, displays, antennas, power supplies, batteries, and thermal solutions.
• Collaborate with embedded software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
• Support vendor selection, component evaluation, and design improvements for reliability and manufacturability.
• Develop automated test fixtures and assist production ramp-up and yield improvement.
• Drive EMC/ESD compliance efforts and maintain engineering docs and SOPs.
• Provide hands-on manufacturing support and root-cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, DMAIC).
