Job summary

LHH in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced hardware-focused engineer to design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot complex electronic systems. You will own hardware development from concept through production and collaborate with senior staff across multiple sites.

The role is 98% hardware-focused with on-site onboarding and limited hybrid flexibility after training. A bachelor's in EE is required, and 12–15 years of experience is preferred.

  • Experience supporting MCU-based products and interfaces.
  • Strong analog or mixed-signal design capabilities and production ownership.
  • Hands-on, with ability to own projects from concept through production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and troubleshoot electronic hardware systems.
  • Create schematics and PCB designs and perform prototyping and validation.
  • Provide root-cause analysis and support embedded MCU-based development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance products through lifecycle.

Job description

  • Strong hands-on electronic hardware design experience, including circuit design, schematic capture, prototyping, testing, and board-level troubleshooting.
  • Embedded microcontroller experience, including supporting circuitry and interfaces.
  • Broad analog and/or mixed-signal design experience with the ability to independently own projects from concept through production.

This is a primarily onsite position within a highly collaborative engineering organization. The role is approximately 98% hardware-focused and requires hands-on access

Team Structure

Individual contributor role with no direct reports. The selected candidate will work closely with senior engineering staff and cross-functional R&D team members. The broader engineering organization consists of approximately eleven professionals located across multiple domestic and international sites.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.

Schedule
  • Primarily onsite during the initial onboarding period.
  • Potential for limited hybrid flexibility after the employee is fully trained and independently performing in the role.
  • Typical working hours are between 8:00 a.m. and \5:00 p.m. with reasonable flexibility.

Additional Candidate Information
  • This is not a people management role.
  • The position is heavily focused on electronic hardware design; firmware and software development are not primary responsibilities.
  • Embedded microcontroller expertise is considered the highest technical priority.
  • Experience with thermocouples is helpful but can be learned on the job.
  • Experience with Altium or comparable PCB design tools is preferred.
  • Verilog and FPGA experience are considered a plus but are not required.
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess approximately 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, though exceptional candidates with five or more years of directly applicable experience will be considered.
