Moore's Electrical & Mechanical is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer in Altavista, VA. You will design, engineer, and coordinate electrical systems for commercial and industrial projects, partnering with owners, contractors, and design professionals to deliver code-compliant, cost-effective solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, a Virginia PE license (or ability to obtain within 6 months), and at least five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Active Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) license is required, or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience serving as Engineer of Record and signing/sealing electrical documents is preferred.
• Minimum five years of commercial or industrial electrical design and construction experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial/industrial construction processes and practices.
• Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and related engineering software.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and construction documents.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Invest in teammates through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Meet with owners, customers, contractors, and project stakeholders to develop project concepts and convert requirements into full electrical designs for commercial and industrial projects.
• Plan, engineer, and design electrical systems meeting objectives, codes, schedules, and budgets.
• Prepare calculations, layouts, specifications, and construction documents for new and existing facilities.
• Coordinate design activities with internal teams, architects, engineers, vendors, and other professionals.
• Support preconstruction and estimating by developing scopes of work and technical docs.
• Present design concepts and value engineering opportunities to customers and stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership from concept through construction support and project completion.
• Review design documents for accuracy, constructability, quality, and code compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior designers and engineers.
