Job summary

Moore's Electrical & Mechanical is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Designer in Altavista, VA to lead electrical design for commercial and industrial projects. You will collaborate with owners, contractors, and engineers to deliver code-compliant, cost-effective solutions and mentor junior staff.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, a Virginia PE license or the ability to obtain by comity within six months, and 5+ years of relevant design experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is required.
• Active Virginia PE license or ability to obtain licensure by comity within 6 months.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical design and construction.
• Experience as Engineer of Record and signing/sealing electrical documents preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for commercial/industrial projects meeting owner objectives and codes.
• Engineer and design electrical systems aligned with project schedules and budgets.
• Prepare calculations, layouts, specifications and construction documents.
• Coordinate design efforts with internal teams, architects, engineers, and vendors.
• Support preconstruction and estimating with scopes of work and technical docs.
• Present concepts, VE opportunities and technical solutions to stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership through all project phases and mentorship to juniors.
• Review documents for constructability, quality, and code compliance.
