Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and integration for mechanical cooling equipment in our AWS data centers. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams to create scalable, reliable infrastructure across global deployments.

You will own electrical schematics, motor controls, and safety interlocks, while partnering with mechanical and controls engineers to ensure robust system performance and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support design engineering teams to develop mechanical cooling products for AWS data centers.
• Lead electrical aspects of new product design including motor controls, VFDs, power distribution, wiring, and instrumentation integration.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural, controls/automation, reliability, QA/QC, and compliance teams to create well-thought-out products.
• Design and specify electrical systems for rotating equipment ensuring proper motor sizing, protection, and control schemes.
• Create designs meeting quality requirements while delivering ROI.
• Coordinate with global suppliers to specify components and BOMs for cooling equipment.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CE, IEC, NEC/NFPA 70 and other standards across countries.
