Job summary

County of Maui is seeking an Electrical Engineer IV to perform difficult professional engineering work in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with the electrical code and departmental standards.

The role involves reviewing complex plans, making decisions affecting design procedures, and providing technical interpretations of the Electrical Code.

Qualifications

• Requires a combination of education and three years of professional electrical engineering experience.
• Possession of Hawaii-registered Professional Engineer (PE) certificate preferred or required.
• A valid Hawaii State driver’s license (Type 3) required.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze electrical designs, plans and specifications for adequacy and code compliance.
• Approve or reject plans and specifications with design/procedural impact.
• Prepare designs for power distribution, street lighting, traffic signals and related systems.
• Analyze electrical systems for buildings and structures including water or booster pumps.
• Verify calculations and assumptions related to loads and capacities.
• Prepare contracts and specifications for equipment as appropriate.
• Conduct field and office studies and provide recommendations.
