County of Maui is seeking an Electrical Engineer IV to perform difficult professional engineering work in preparing, reviewing, and analyzing electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with the electrical code and departmental standards.
The role involves reviewing complex plans, making decisions affecting design procedures, and providing technical interpretations of the Electrical Code.
Performs difficult professional engineering work in the preparation, review and/or analysis of electrical designs, plans, and specifications for adequacy and compliance with provisions of the electrical code and departmental standards; and performs other related duties as required.
This class differs from the Electrical Engineer III in that the Electrical Engineer IV performs difficult professional engineering work in reviewing and approving electrical plans and specifications for compliance with code and departmental requirements, with responsibility for making decisions and interpretations affecting design or procedures; whereas the Electrical Engineer III performs moderately difficult professional engineering work in reviewing electrical plans and specifications for compliance with code requirements, and recommends approval or rejection of designs, plans, specifications, materials or methods prepared or proposed.

A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in electrical engineering and three years of professional electrical engineering experience.
Possession of a certificate of registration as a professional electrical engineer in the State of Hawaii and a valid Hawaii State driver's license (Type 3).
the principles and practices of electrical engineering; engineering mathematics; techniques and methods of designing electrical and electronic systems; provisions of the National Electrical Code; functions and uses of new materials and devices; sources of engineering information.
