Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Lansing, MI. Candidates must be a licensed engineer in Michigan and capable of leading design efforts including EOR duties, QA/QC, and mentoring junior staff.

The role covers power distribution from low to medium voltage, lighting, life safety, and security systems for diverse projects. Travel to client sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering required.
• 12-15+ years electrical engineering design experience is required of building electrical systems.
• A licensed engineer in Michigan is required.
• Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) and IEEE standards.
• Proficient in Revit, AGI Lighting, and power studies (SKM, EasyPower, ETAP) software skills.
• Extensive design experience with electrical power system equipment/components, such as switchgear, transformers, panelboards, generators, grounding, etc.
• Collaborate with Architects, Engineers, and contractors to provide a coordinated design.
• Experience leading mid-sized and large projects.
• Willing to travel to client locations, as needed.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) by performing peer reviews, QAQC on projects prior to submission, and coordinating with supervisor or electrical department leader.
• Prepare effective work plans and man-hour budgets for approval.
• Responsible for the quality control/quality assurance process on all assigned projects.
• Participates in formulating and coordinating proposals and provides other Marketing support, including Business Development.
• Mentor junior staff in learning sound technical and business practices and enhancing corporate objectives.
• Assist in verifying that all design aspects comply with local code and apply code provision.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to provide a coordinated design.
