Job summary

Metric DCX is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to own and advance electrical systems for high-density, mission-critical data centers. You will lead MV/LV power distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators and related critical power infrastructure across site deployments.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for mission-critical and high-density data center infrastructure.
• Design and specify MV/LV power distribution systems, switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers, ATS/STS and associated equipment.
• Develop and review single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, specifications, calculations and construction documentation.
• Evaluate N, N+1 and 2N power architectures to support availability and resiliency requirements.
• Support short-circuit, arc-flash and protective-device coordination studies.
• Review designs produced by external engineering firms and ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Work closely with EORs, contractors, OEMs, commissioning teams and utilities throughout project delivery.
• Provide engineering support during construction, equipment integration, testing and commissioning.
• Support the development of repeatable engineering standards for future data center deployments.
• Provide senior technical guidance across multiple concurrent projects.

Job description

A fast-growing data center infrastructure organization is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to take technical ownership of electrical systems supporting high-density, mission-critical and AI data center environments.

This position will lead electrical engineering across site-level deployments, covering medium- and low-voltage distribution, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, transformers and associated critical power infrastructure.

The engineer will work across multiple projects from concept and design through construction, testing and commissioning, while helping establish engineering standards as the organization continues to scale.

Requirements

• 7+ years of electrical engineering experience, ideally within data centers, mission-critical facilities or similarly complex infrastructure.
• Strong experience with MV/LV electrical distribution and critical power systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of switchgear, UPS, generators, transformers and transfer systems.
• Experience designing highly available electrical architectures such as N+1 and 2N.
• Understanding of short-circuit, arc-flash and protection/coordination studies.
• Experience producing and reviewing electrical drawings, specifications and calculations.
• Experience supporting projects through design, construction and commissioning.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Strong communication skills and experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Preferred Experience

Experience with hyperscale or high-density AI/GPU data centers, modular or prefabricated electrical infrastructure, utility interconnection, and establishing engineering standards across multiple projects would be highly advantageous.

Location & Travel

Approximately 15-25% travel to project sites may be required.

Compensation

Up to $200,000 base salary + bonus, dependent on experience and location.
