Job summary

Novax Recruitment Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems in California to lead the design of complex, high-power infrastructure projects. You will own electrical design from concept through commissioning, including MV/HV distribution, substations and protective relaying.

Ideal candidates hold a US PE license and have extensive experience with industrial power-distribution, NEC/IEEE standards, and project lifecycle from design to energisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Active US Professional Engineer licence in any state.
• Experience designing power-distribution systems for industrial, utility, manufacturing, data-centre, renewable-energy or EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of MV/HV equipment, substations, transformers, switchgear and protection systems.
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E and applicable electrical standards.
• Experience supporting projects through design, construction and commissioning.
• Experience in BESS, battery manufacturing or renewable energy is beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design for major industrial and energy projects.
• Develop single-line diagrams, equipment specs, load studies and design packages.
• Design MV/HV distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear and protective relaying.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables from internal teams and external consultants.
• Perform or review short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash and load-flow studies.
• Support equipment procurement, construction, commissioning and energisation.
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, controls, construction and utility teams.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

Are you a licensed Electrical Professional Engineer looking to lead the design of complex, high-power industrial infrastructure?

We are supporting a rapidly expanding US energy and advanced-manufacturing organisation delivering major greenfield projects across battery technology, energy storage and industrial infrastructure.

This position offers genuine technical ownership. You will lead electrical designs from early concept through construction and commissioning, working on MV/HV distribution, substations, protection and controls, and critical facility power systems.

The role

• Lead electrical engineering and design for major industrial and energy projects
• Develop single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, load studies and design packages
• Design MV/HV distribution systems, substations, transformers, switchgear and protective relaying
• Review and approve engineering deliverables produced by internal teams and external consultants
• Perform or review short-circuit, coordination, arc-flash and load-flow studies
• Support equipment procurement, construction, commissioning and energisation
• Coordinate with civil, mechanical, controls, construction and utility teams
• Provide technical leadership and support the development of junior engineers
• Stamp engineering documents where required

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
