Seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our growing team and help build the electrical foundation for autonomous mining and transport platforms. In this role, you will own electrical systems from concept through deployment, designing, building, validating, and integrating the custom hardware that allows vehicles and robotic systems to communicate, sense, and operate in the physical world.
This role sits at the intersection of electrical engineering, firmware, robotics, and vehicle integration. You'll work on everything from high-speed compute carrier boards to hands-on vehicle reverse engineering and drive-by-wire systems. The ideal candidate enjoys owning hardware from specification through manufacturing and is comfortable debugging problems in both the lab and the field.
- Electrical Architecture & Ownership: Design and own custom electrical systems from initial requirements through schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, validation, manufacturing, and deployment. Drive technical decisions and establish engineering best practices across the organization.
- PCB Design & Compute Systems: Design multi-layer PCBs, carrier boards, and mixed-signal systems supporting high-performance compute platforms. Develop hardware for cameras, sensors, communication interfaces, and real-time autonomous systems, including high-speed differential signaling and complex board layouts.
- Robotics & Vehicle Systems: Design and integrate electronics for autonomous vehicle operation, vehicle upgrades, drive-by-wire systems, actuators, motors, power systems, and field-deployed robotic hardware. Work directly with commercial and mining vehicles to understand and solve real-world integration challenges.
- Vehicle Communications & Reverse Engineering: Analyze and troubleshoot vehicle communication networks and electrical systems. Reverse engineer signals, identify communication pathways, and work with CAN Bus, CAN FD, LIN, Ethernet, PWM, serial interfaces, and other vehicle-specific protocols.
- Firmware Collaboration: Partner closely with firmware engineers to define hardware interfaces and debug system-level issues. Serve as a bridge between electrical and firmware teams by understanding microcontrollers, embedded systems, and hardware/software interactions.
- Debugging, Validation & Root Cause Analysis: Perform board bring-up, electrical validation, system troubleshooting, and root cause investigations. Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, microscopes, and other diagnostic tools to identify failures and implement solutions.
- Deployment & Field Support: Support testing, deployment, and troubleshooting efforts in the field. Work directly on vehicles and robotic systems, gathering data, diagnosing issues, and implementing hardware improvements.
