Job description

Job Title: Senior Electrical EngineerJob Description

This Senior, hands-on hardware electronics design role offers full lifecycle ownership of complex circuit designs, from initial requirements through fabrication, test, and debug. You will lead analog and digital hardware development with embedded software and firmware, support major ground vehicle platforms, and present design progress at formal program milestones such as SRR, PDR, and CDR. The position provides broad technical scope across power, data, sensors, and firmware within a growing tactical systems program base.

Responsibilities
  • Own circuit designs end-to-end, from requirements definition through fabrication, testing, debugging, and final product delivery.
  • Design and develop analog and digital electronic hardware for embedded systems and tactical platforms.
  • Develop and integrate embedded software and firmware, including C/C++ programming for microcontrollers and VHDL/Verilog for programmable logic.
  • Personally assemble, test, debug, and program hardware prototypes and production units to validate design performance.
  • Create and maintain electronic CAD designs, schematics, and layouts using E-CAD tools, preferably Altium Designer.
  • Support full product lifecycle activities, ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Participate in and present design progress at formal program reviews and milestones, including System Requirements Review (SRR), Preliminary Design Review (PDR), and Critical Design Review (CDR).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on electromechanical design, rapid prototyping, and integration activities.
  • Contribute to testing and validation of designs, including environmental and electromagnetic compliance aligned with relevant standards.
  • Produce engineering documentation, drawings, and specifications that support manufacturing and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) practices.
  • Provide technical input and leadership potential on tactical systems and ground vehicle platform projects.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and methods across the product lifecycle.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in analog and digital circuit design, including embedded software and firmware development.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience assembling, testing, debugging, and programming electronic hardware prototypes and products.
  • Proficiency in programming microcontrollers in C and C++, and developing firmware using VHDL or Verilog.
  • Strong electronic CAD skills, preferably with Altium Designer, for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Experience with embedded software development, including integration with hardware platforms.
  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle and full lifecycle hardware development from requirements through production.
  • Background in electromechanical design or electromechanical engineering for integrated systems.
  • Ability to test, debug, and program microcontroller-based and firmware-driven systems.
  • Experience working with PIC-based and ARM-based microcontrollers is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with mid- to high-level standards and military specifications for electronic systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills applied to complex hardware and firmware issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with PIC-based microcontrollers; ARM-based microcontroller experience is a plus.
  • Exposure to MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 testing for environmental and electromagnetic compliance.
  • Prior experience with military specifications and formal design specification processes.
  • Machine shop and electromechanical skills that support rapid prototyping and hardware iteration.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings and documentation with an understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Strong physics Background supporting robust design decisions for power, signal integrity, and sensor interfaces.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership potential on complex engineering projects.
  • Experience working across analog, digital, power, data, sensor, and firmware domains.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly in design reviews and documentation.
Work Environment

You will work in a highly technical, hands-on engineering environment focused on tactical systems and ground vehicle platforms. The role emphasizes full lifecycle ownership, allowing you to take designs from initial requirements through to finished hardware in hand. You will regularly use E-CAD tools such as Altium Designer, programming environments for C/C++ and VHDL/Verilog, and standard lab equipment for assembly, test, and debug. The environment supports rapid prototyping, including access to electromechanical and machine shop capabilities. Work involves collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, participation in formal design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), and engagement with military standards and specifications. The culture values technical excellence, broad problem-solving across analog, digital, power, data, and sensor domains, and offers growth opportunities within a expanding tactical systems program base.
