About the Role
Lead the design and development of innovative products from concept through research and development, qualification, and production.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the overall electrical architecture for multiple unmanned systems and related subsystems.
- Serve as the technical lead for electrical design efforts, ensuring alignment with system requirements, performance objectives, cost targets, and manufacturing considerations.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, software, systems engineering, manufacturing, program management, suppliers, and customers.

- Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) design and mitigation
- Drive PCB component placement and layout reviews with an emphasis on high-density, low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) applications.
- Perform design trade studies and evaluate technical solutions to optimize performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
- Develop and execute test plans, simulations, prototype evaluations, and verification activities to ensure compliance with system requirements.
- Lead root‑cause investigations for complex design, integration, and production issues, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Support system integration, qualification testing, environmental testing, and field troubleshooting activities.
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
- Support production and sustainment activities, including design updates, failure analysis, and manufacturing issue resolution.
- Generate and review engineering documentation, including schematics, interface definitions, test procedures, design reports, and technical presentations.
- Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and subcontractors to communicate technical requirements, review designs, and resolve engineering challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience in product development, aerospace, defense, robotics, unmanned systems, or similar industries.
- Demonstrated experience leading electrical design efforts from concept through production.
- Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, embedded hardware, and mixed‑signal systems.
- Extensive experience designing battery‑powered and low‑SWaP electronic systems.
- Proficiency with ECAD tools for schematic capture, PCB layout, and simulation (e.g., OrCAD, Allegro, Altium Designer, or equivalent).
- Experience with high‑speed digital design, signal integrity analysis, and PCB layout best practices.
- Strong understanding of EMC/EMI requirements, mitigation techniques, and compliance testing.
- Hands‑on experience with system integration, debugging, failure analysis, and laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and other test equipment.
- Experience supporting products designed for military, aerospace, or harsh operating environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of electro‑optical systems, sensor integration, motor control systems, or autonomous platforms is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced development environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to customers, management, and cross‑functional teams.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership.
