Job summary

Fishbeck is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with healthcare experience to join our Farmington Hills/Grand Rapids team. You will help develop construction documents, supervise staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals on hospitals, labs, and medical office buildings.

Ideal candidates hold a BSEE, are PE-eligible, and have expertise in power, lighting, and building systems, with proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or equivalent).
• PE license or working toward licensure.
• Healthcare project experience (hospitals, labs, medical office buildings).
• Proficiency with NEC, IBC, energy codes, Health Care Facilities Code, and Life Safety Code.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with clients.
• Supervise and mentor engineering staff throughout design and construction.
• Design electrical, lighting, and building systems; develop design calculations.
• Support healthcare facility delivery and perform field investigations.
• Review deliverables and manage multiple projects and budgets.

Location: Farmington Hills or Grand Rapids, MI

Employment Type: Full-Time

For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together—our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Senior Electrical Engineer with healthcare experience to help us keep building.

Working with our Electrical team, you will help develop construction documents, including drawings and specifications, while supervising and mentoring other staff. You will collaborate with a diverse team of multidisciplinary consulting professionals, with a particular focus on healthcare projects including hospitals, laboratories, and medical office buildings.

What You’ll Do

• Collaborate as an integral part of multidisciplinary project teams
• Coordinate with clients and project stakeholders
• Supervise and mentor engineering and design staff
• Participate in projects from planning and design through construction
• Design and specify electrical, lighting, and building systems
• Develop and maintain electrical design calculations
• Support the design and delivery of healthcare facilities, including hospitals, laboratories, and medical office buildings
• Conduct site visits and perform field investigations
• Provide construction administration and project support
• Review engineering deliverables and ensure quality standards are met
• Manage multiple projects, tasks, and responsibilities simultaneously
• Write proposals, define scopes of services, and develop project budgets

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE or equivalent)
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or working toward licensure
• Prior electrical engineering experience on healthcare projects, including hospitals, laboratories, and/or medical office buildings
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code, International Building Code, applicable energy codes, Health Care Facilities Code, and Life Safety Code
• Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
• Experience with power distribution, lighting and building systems, and arc flash risk assessments
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
