Job summary

EnerSys seeks an experienced electrical engineer in the United States to lead the architecture and development of battery and charger systems. You will design high‑voltage battery solutions and collaborate across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams to ensure safety and reliability from concept through production.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in electrical design with a degree in Electrical Engineering and strong hands‑on experience with testing, CAN/serial communication, and EMI

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years in electrical design, power systems, or defense-related products.
  • Strong knowledge of lithium-ion and similar battery technologies, including safety and protection.
  • Experience with high-voltage battery systems and energy storage designs; low EMI design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture and development of electrical circuits for batteries, chargers and rechargeable battery-based systems.
  • Create detailed electrical schematics and specifications for batteries, chargers, and related electronics.
  • Design and integrate battery monitoring and protection systems to ensure safe operation.
  • Perform system analysis related to electrical performance, thermal management, EMI, and reliability.
  • Use engineering tools for simulation, modeling, and analysis of electrical designs.
  • Support environmental and electrical qualification testing per military/defense standards.
  • Work with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams throughout development.
  • Participate in technical reviews and risk assessments for new products.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing for bids and proposals.
  • Prepare documentation for testing, production, and customer requirements.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development.

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use engineering tools for simulation, modeling, and analysis of electrical designs.
  • Support environmental and electrical qualification testing in accordance with military and defense standards.
  • Work closely with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams throughout the development cycle.
  • Participate in technical reviews and risk assessments for new products.
  • Provide technical support to Sales and Marketing for bids and proposals.
  • Prepare clear documentation for testing, production, and customer requirements
  • Mentor junior engineers and support team development.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design, power systems, or defense-related products.
  • Strong knowledge of lithium-ion and similar battery technologies, including system safety and protection designs.
  • Experience working with high-voltage battery systems and energy storage designs, including low EMI circuit design.
  • Proficiency with electrical design software tools.
  • Experience integrating electronics with microcontrollers and communication networks such as Controller Area Network (CAN) or serial communications.
  • Hands-on experience with testing, troubleshooting, and qualifying electronic systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to product quality and reliability.
  • Creative and adaptable approach to engineering challenges.
