Job summary

Mission Critical Group in Wisconsin designs and deploys critical power solutions for mission-critical environments. You will lead end-to-end electrical system design, own MV/LV architecture, and act as the technical authority on high-value projects, mentoring a team across multiple concurrent efforts.

Ideal candidates bring 15–20+ years in electrical engineering, a PE license, and deep expertise in industrial power systems, including substations, switchgear, transformers, gensets and UPS systems.

Qualifications

• 15–20+ years in electrical engineering.
• PE license highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering; Master’s in Physics or Math related desirable.
• Deep expertise in industrial power systems (big wires).
• Strong experience with MV/LV distribution, substations, switchgear, transformers, gensets and UPS.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end electrical system design for industrial and mission-critical projects.
• Own system architecture across MV/LV distribution, substations, and backup power systems.
• Act as the technical authority on complex, high-value projects.
• Develop and review single line diagrams, protection & coordination studies, schematics and layouts.
• Partner with customers to define robust, scalable power solutions.
• Provide technical leadership across 10–15+ concurrent projects.
• Mentor engineers and elevate technical capability across the team.

Job Description

This is a hands-on, technical leadership role, not a people management position. You’ll operate as a subject matter expert in industrial power systems, shaping complex designs, guiding project teams, and partnering directly with customers on mission-critical solutions.

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end electrical system design for industrial and mission-critical projects
• Own system architecture across MV/LV distribution, substations, and backup power systems
• Act as the technical authority on complex, high-value projects
• Develop and review:
  • Single line diagrams
  • Protection and coordination studies
  • Schematics and equipment layouts
• Partner directly with customers to define robust, scalable power solutions
• Provide technical leadership across multiple concurrent projects (often 10–15+)
• Mentor engineers and elevate technical capability across the team

Qualifications

• Background in industrial, utility, data center, or large infrastructure projects
• Experience with industrial engineering firms

You may currently be a:

• Principal / Lead Engineer at an engineering firm working on large industrial projects
• Senior engineer ready to step into a technical authority role
• Power systems specialist in an industrial EPC, utility, or mission-critical environment
