Job summary

Spencer Ogden is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a data center construction project. You will act as the primary on-site technical contact for medium- and low-voltage systems, ensuring alignment with design intent and safety codes.

Responsibilities include daily field walks for quality and safety, handling RFIs and submittals, and coordinating testing, commissioning, and BIM resolutions. Collaboration with superintendents and PMs will be essential to ensure robust power distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in electrical design, construction or commissioning, or 5+ years on hyperscale data centers.
• Strong knowledge of medium/low-voltage distribution, protective relaying, grounding and NEC.

Job description

Seeking a Senior electrical engineer for a data center construction project serving as the primary field representative for all medium-voltage, low-voltage, and emergency power systems, ensuring the build matches design intent and safety codes.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Representation: Act as the main on-site technical contact for electrical systems, monitoring installations involving switchgear, substations, generators, and UPS systems.
• Quality & Progress Monitoring: Conduct daily field walks to check work quality, job-site safety, and plan compliance.
• Technical Resolution: Review and resolve Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and material substitutions.
• BIM & Coordination: Support Building Information Modeling (BIM) conflict resolutions across structural, mechanical, and electrical trades.
• Testing & Commissioning: Coordinate site inspections, energization planning, startup support, and Factory/Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT).
• Working with superintendents, project managers to ensure power distribution efforts for data center construction

Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience: 10+ years in electrical design, construction, or commissioning, or 5+ years specifically on hyperscale data center builds.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep familiarity with medium/low-voltage distribution, protective relaying, grounding, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Soft Skills: Strong on-site communication, risk identification, and cross-team collaboration with QA/QC and owner representatives.
