Job summary

Metric Geo in Bloomington, MN is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to lead multi-discipline teams delivering power delivery projects for utility clients. You will manage design across physical design, protection & control, civil interfaces, major equipment, and construction support.

The role demands 5+ years in substation/power delivery, a track record leading engineers, and experience with EPC or full project lifecycles. PE license preferred and a strong client-facing stance is valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of substation / power delivery engineering experience.
• Experience leading engineers and coordinating multi-discipline teams.
• Experience delivering substation projects for utility clients (EPC or design services).
• PE license strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of substation physical design, protection & control, and major equipment.
• Proven ability to manage scope, schedule, and budget.
• Demonstrated client-facing communication and business development skills.

• Act as the technical lead on complex substation projects, supporting reviews, RFIs, vendor coordination, and design decisions.
• Support proposals, estimates, client meetings, and business development for utility and power delivery clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and help develop the wider substation engineering team.

• Previous experience leading engineers, coordinating multi-discipline teams, or acting as Lead Engineer / Project Engineering Manager.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• 75+ Years experience leading the power delivery industry.
