Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a senior Substation Engineering Leader to drive multi-discipline teams in delivering substation and switchyard projects for utility clients in the US. The role encompasses technical leadership across physical design, protection & control, civil interfaces, and major equipment, with responsibilities spanning proposals, client meetings, and BD support.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of substation experience, a PE license preference, and a track record of leading

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of substation/power delivery engineering experience.
• Knowledge of substation physical design, protection & control, civil/structural interfaces, major equipment, and utility standards.
• PE license strongly preferred.

• Oversee project scope, engineering schedule, budget, quality, design standards, and client expectations.
• Act as the technical lead on complex substation projects, supporting reviews, RFIs, vendor coordination, and design decisions.
• Support proposals, estimates, client meetings, and business development for utility and power delivery clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and help develop the wider substation engineering team.

What you do

• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams delivering substation and switchyard projects across EPC and design services.
• Manage technical delivery across physical design, P&C, civil/structural, major equipment, relay/control, and construction support.
• Oversee project scope, engineering schedule, budget, quality, design standards, and client expectations.
• Act as the technical lead on complex substation projects, supporting engineering reviews, RFIs, vendor coordination, and design decisions.
• Support proposals, estimates, client meetings, and business development for utility and power delivery clients.
• Mentor junior engineers and help develop the wider substation engineering team.

Qualifications required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of substation / power delivery engineering experience.
• Strong background delivering substation or switchyard projects for utility clients.
• Experience across EPC, design services, or full lifecycle substation project delivery.
• Knowledge of substation physical design, protection & control, civil/structural interfaces, major equipment, and utility standards.
• Previous experience leading engineers, coordinating multi-discipline teams, or acting as Lead Engineer / Project Engineering Manager.
• PE license strongly preferred.
• 75+ Years experience leading the power delivery industry.
• Top 10 in ENR for the power sector multiple years running.
