Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) seeks an Electrical & Electronics Systems Specialist 3 to support the Southwest Region. The role diagnoses, maintains, repairs and installs traffic signals, ramp meters, and highway lighting infrastructure, using various electrical tools.

Travel, outdoor work in all weather, and occasional lead duties are expected. The candidate will handle safety, maintenance documentation, and field operations, including working at heights and operating CDL

Qualifications

• CDL with no restrictions or ability to obtain CDL within 6 months
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Ability to work at heights up to 100 feet above land and 600 feet above water
• Ability to respond to emergencies 24/7 and report to duty within 80 minutes
• Experience reading electrical schematics and plans is a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform senior-level preventative maintenance, repairs and installation of highway electrical infrastructure
• Test voltages, connections and grounding; check pedestrian heads and pushbuttons alignment
• Inspect signal operation, ramp meters, vehicle detection and emergency preemption
• Diagnose electrical problems and perform safe repairs
• Maintain inventories and document service activities and job reports
• Train staff on safe operation of equipment and procedures
