Job summary

Hatch in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join our Project Delivery Group. The role focuses on planning and designing electrical, automation and communications systems for water, transport and heavy industrial projects, using advanced CAD tools.

You will lead design efforts on projects, supervise junior designers, ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, NEMA and IEEE standards, and coordinate with other disciplines at client sites.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in electrical design.
• Proficient in CAD design 2D/3D (Microstation, AutoCAD, PSDS, PDS).
• Knowledge of high, medium and low voltage electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of control systems and instrumentation design.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, NEMA and IEEE standards.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
• Multidisciplinary design knowledge and strong computer skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent safety awareness.

Responsibilities

• Work on a range of electrical design-engineering industrial solutions.
• Produce and maintain engineering drawings using 2D/3D CAD software.
• Create designs and drawings for electrical systems and conduct cable sizing.
• Design instrument loop sheets, control panels and BOMs.
• Ensure drawings meet project and company quality standards.
• Coordinate electrical interfaces with other disciplines.
• Supervise junior designers and potentially participate in workload decisions.
• Participate in field surveys at client sites and on-site supervision.
