Job Description:

General Summary:

Design and engineer lighting, power, and low voltage systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance with client requirements and applicable codes. Develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical, architectural, and mechanical components.

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and analyze electrical systems for installation, interconnection, and control of electrical, architectural, and mechanical components.
• Design lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems (fire alarm, telecommunications, data networks, lighting control, power monitoring), including equipment sizing, using applicable codes and standards.
• Manage or lead project teams.
• Review and establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and constraints with Project Managers or clients.
• Apply and interpret NEC and relevant NFPA standards in electrical design.
• Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.
• Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages.
• Produce and monitor construction documents quality per standards.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to produce integrated construction documents.
• Edit and draft project specifications.
• Mentor less experienced staff.
• Develop accurate project cost estimates.
• Conduct field measurements and site checks.
• Maintain organized project files.
• Review project submittals for conformance and specify actions.
• Respond to RFIs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• LEED accreditation preferred.

Experience:

• 10+ years in power distribution/lighting design.
• Experience with short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, EasyPower).

Certification:

• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification from any state.

Skills/Competencies:

• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in SKM, ETAP, EasyPower.
• Experience with Bluebeam, BIM 360, Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
