Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for the Laser Powder Bed Fusion printers (Raptor). Hawthorne, CA-based role involves owning electrical systems end-to-end, from requirements to production integration, enabling higher production rates for rocket engines.

You will design PCBAs, validate hardware, and work with mechanical, software, and controls teams to push limits on reliability and manufacturability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
• 5+ years designing circuits, electronics, or hardware.
• Experience with industrial automation, laser systems, high‑power electronics, motion control, or additive manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design new electrical hardware, PCBAs, and implement targeted modifications to improve reliability.
• Create and release documentation for fabrication of PCBs.
• Provide extreme ownership of electronic hardware from development through implementation.
• Drive changes to electrical schematics and mechanical drawings to improve reliability and cost.
• Perform root cause investigations to characterize off-nominal behavior and mitigate risk.
• Derive engineering justification to resolve production issues throughout assembly, test, and activation.
• Design test setups and validate hardware through benchtop and environmental testing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software, automation, and other teams to deliver integrated hardware.
