Job summary

Redwood Materials in Oakland, CA, seeks a Staff Electrical Design Engineer to own end-to-end electrical design for industrial and lab facilities across multiple locations. This role covers concept through construction with Electrical Engineer of Record responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 10+ years in heavy commercial/industrial settings, and advanced skills in Revit MEP, SKM/ETAP, NEC/IECC/NFPA code analysis, plus strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Licensed Professional Engineer in Nevada or eligible for reciprocity; must obtain PE in Nevada and South Carolina within 2 months.
Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy commercial and industrial sectors.
Subject matter expertise in NEC, IECC, NFPA standards with leadership in code analysis.
Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and SKM/ETAP.
Advanced proficiency in AmpCalc or similar for cable ampacity; photometric studies with Visual/AGI.
Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

Design and own electrical systems up to 34.5 kV and low voltage power distribution.
Serve as Electrical Engineer of Record and produce permit/construction drawings.
Perform power system studies with short-circuit, arc flash, and device coordination.
Lead multi-discipline coordination to produce IFC packages.
Review designs and conduct technical bid evaluations.
Lead NEC/IECC/NFPA code analyses and ensure compliance.
Provide construction administration support and on-site inspections.
Prepare cost estimates and project schedules; mentor junior engineers.
