Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer specialized in Industrial Automation to join our client in the East London area of the Eastern Cape. You will design electrical control systems, develop automation solutions, and translate client needs into robust electrical designs for diverse industrial applications.

The role requires extensive PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA experience, plus motor control and electrical design skills.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical design and industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000), HMI, and SCADA.

Mansioni

• Design electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using CAD software.
• Program and configure PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA to meet project specs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for automated industrial machinery and processes using CAD software.
• Program and configure PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and SCADA systems to meet project specifications.
• Select appropriate electrical components, motors, drives, and control devices.
• Develop and implement system integration strategies for complex automation projects.
• Conduct site surveys and commissioning of automation systems, providing on-site support as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and automation issues during design, build, and commissioning phases.
• Ensure all designs comply with relevant safety standards (e.g., IEC 60204-1) and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design reports, manuals, and test procedures.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in electrical design and industrial automation.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000), HMI development, and SCADA systems.
• Strong experience with industrial electrical design, including schematics, panel layout, and component selection.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
• Experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motor control systems.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, suitable for hybrid work environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of robotic systems is a plus.
