Job summary

United Global Technologies is seeking Senior Design Engineers to support the Plutonium Facilities Engineering Rapid Response Team. Up to two engineers will be hired in electrical and civil/structural disciplines to address critical facility challenges.

Candidates should have a strong background in engineering design, analysis, and compliance with DOE/NNSA codes, with experience leading projects and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from ABET-accredited college.
• Nine (9) years of practical work experience in the discipline.
• Expert knowledge of industry, regulatory, and DOE/NNSA codes (e.g., ASCE, ASME, NQA‑1, IBC, IEBC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC).
• Proven knowledge of DOE and DOD facility codes/standards.
• Experience facilitating design package development and associated deliverables.
• Experience with CAD/markup software.
• Experience with finite‑element software (e.g., RISA) and familiarity with AutoCAD and MS Office.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and HRP; U.S. citizenship required.
• Inability to obtain a Q clearance or ABET non-accreditation is a deal-breaker.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of engineering operations within the discipline, including structural design and analysis.
• Lead projects and supervise the work of others, coordinating inter-disciplinary activities.
• Provide construction and project support, integrating construction with design work.
• Identify and manage workflow improvements to meet customer needs.
• Apply broad engineering knowledge in complex analyses.
• Work independently and in teams, using engineering tools to accomplish work.
• Utilize advanced engineering software as required.
