Job Description

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will lead design efforts to create new process instruments that monitor corrosion, utilizing expertise in digital, firmware, and analog disciplines to develop innovative technology. Responsibilities include delivering clear design plans, collaborating with team members and external parties, owning the design process from concept to validation, and mentoring other engineers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Own the design process: conceptualize, design, prototype, test, document, manufacture, and validate designs.
• Assist in developing engineering plans and costs for complex projects.
• Provide engineering support to customers, manufacturing, sales, and services.
• Visit customer and vendor facilities as required.
• Develop, implement, and document changes to improve product quality and reduce costs.
• Seek innovative solutions to challenging problems and share ideas.

Required Competencies

• Experience with industrial embedded systems and communications (digital), including software and firmware development.
• Experience with low power / voltage instrumentation design (analog).
• Proficiency with PCB design schematic and layout software.
• Good team collaboration skills, sense of urgency, and commitment to deadlines.
• Passion for continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Position Requirements

• BSc in Electrical Engineering, advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in designing complex electronic systems.

Preferred Experience

• Design experience in industrial instrumentation for Oil and Gas, Chemical, or Water industries.
• Knowledge of designing for hazardous locations (ATEX, CSA, UL, etc.) and certifications (FCC/CE).
• C/C++ programming experience.
• Knowledge of standards and protocols such as RoHS, 4-20mA, Modbus, HART, Wireless HART, ISA100, OPC, LoRa, I2C, Serial.
• Familiarity with software tools like PADS, MP Lab, Auto Desk, Python, Java, C#, Android, Linux.
