Job summary

Cullerton Group is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Project Engineer on a permanent basis in Evanston, IL. The role offers a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office and the remainder from home, with compensation up to $130,000 plus bonus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 8+ years of electrical engineering design experience within an MEP consulting firm, AE firm, design-build contractor, or related environment.
  • Experience designing building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency power.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Healthcare project experience strongly preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Stable employment history demonstrating career progression and project ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for healthcare, higher education, commercial, hospitality, laboratory, and pharmaceutical facilities.
  • Prepare designs for lighting, power distribution, emergency power, low-voltage systems, and fire alarm systems.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, equipment sizing, and infrastructure assessments.
  • Conduct field surveys and existing conditions investigations.
  • Prepare construction drawings and specifications using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Review contractor submittals and shop drawings.
  • Respond to RFIs and support construction administration activities.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, contractors, and facility personnel.
  • Independently manage smaller projects while serving as a lead engineer on larger projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  • Participate in client meetings and project presentations.

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Project Engineer. This is a permanent job. The work will be done in Evanston, IL 3 days a week, the rest will be work from home. Compensation is up to $130,000 + bonus.

Our client is a highly respected consulting engineering firm providing electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and technology design services for healthcare, higher education, commercial, hospitality, laboratory, and pharmaceutical facilities. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering team.

This position offers the opportunity to work on complex infrastructure-focused projects while collaborating closely with project managers, technical leadership, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate is a technically strong electrical engineer who enjoys mentoring junior staff, interacting with clients, and contributing to the successful delivery of challenging projects.
