Job summary

MEPIS is seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer to support and lead electrical design on diverse building projects. The role involves independent design responsibilities, client coordination, and project ownership while growing toward senior leadership.

Requires 10+ years in electrical design, Chicago Electrical Code proficiency, and experience with power, lighting, fire alarm, and telecom systems. On-site field surveys, project management, and cross-trade collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design & analysis of building systems and campuses
  • Experience with the Chicago Electrical Code is a must
  • Understanding of power, lighting, fire alarm and telecommunication systems in their design and implementation
  • Experience with design and analysis (Arc Flash Analyses, Load Studies) preferred
  • Visit on-site to field survey and/or meet with clients required
  • Manage major projects and oversee smaller ones by junior engineers
  • Ability to coordinate with other major trades (Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Protection)
  • Ability to manage clients
  • Experience with higher education, medical facilities, or other complex facilities preferred
  • Some project management experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to write proposals and develop estimates for project bids
  • Ability to interpret NEC/NESC and other relevant codes & standards
  • Ability to interpret IESNA recommendations for lighting

Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design efforts on a wide range of building projects.
  • Coordinate with Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection trades.
  • Meet with clients on-site for field surveys and project coordination.
  • Manage major projects and oversee junior engineers on smaller projects.
  • Write proposals and develop estimates for bids.
