Job summary

BSEG (Building Systems Engineering Group) seeks an experienced Electrical Department Lead to guide technical direction, staff mentoring, and project delivery for building electrical systems in a senior leadership role.

You will oversee design, QA/QC, and client relationships, while driving business development and strategic growth for the firm. A PE and 15+ years in electrical building systems are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering for buildings.
• Experience designing and managing electrical building systems.
• Experience supervising a team of engineers and designers.
• Strong project management with budgets and schedules.
• QA/QC and senior-level design review demonstrated.
• Experience managing client relationships and serving as primary contact.
• Experience with business development and proposals.
• Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Architectural Engineering or related field.
• PE licensure preferred, leadership capabilities valued.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and management of the Electrical Department.
• Mentor engineers and designers; set workload priorities and staff assignments.
• Oversee building electrical design: power, lighting, EMS, generators, UPS, fire alarm.
• Perform senior-level design reviews and QA/QC on documents.
• Serve as Project Manager or senior technical lead with scope, schedule, budget accountability.
• Maintain relationships with architects, owners, developers, contractors, and consultants.
• Act as primary client contact; ensure communication and client satisfaction.
• Lead business development, expand existing clients, pursue new opportunities.
• Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and engineering fee estimates.
• Coordinate electrical with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and others.
• Participate in construction administration and field observations.
• Support departmental planning, staffing, productivity, profitability, and growth.
